Photography Unit: Forced Perspective

Image
Photography Unit: Forced Perspective In this photography unit I set out to photograph different things in a forced perspective. The first photo shows a martial arts figuring kicking my monitor our of the way, although it is actually not. I really liked this image because I felt that it appeared very clean with different shades of back. The second photo is a sharpie cap that has been placed onto a bottle. I also really liked this photo because of how well the colors between the bottle and the cap blended, making the cap look like it could possibly be the real cap.

Photography Unit: Book Challenge

Image
Photography Unit: Book Challenge In this unit I set out to photograph different objects on a book, while trying to represent the time during quarantine. The first imagine which is a metal fidget spinning over the book Persepolis represents the time wasted within quarantine. I tried to use the fidget spinner as a clock in order to further enhance this, and made the exposure longer in order for the full effect of the spin. The second image are a bunch of marbles along the inside of a book. I made the marbles in a repeating pattern to represent how quarantine feel the same every week.

Photography Unit: Research on Two Photographers

Image
Photography Unit: Research on Two Photographers In this photography unit the students set out to research two photographers in order to have a better understanding of the way photographers think.I chose Richard Drew and Robert Capa because I felt that they both expressed their emotions through photography well. Richard Drew (On the List) Richard Drew was an American journalist that shot photos for the Associated Press. Drew was present at both the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy and the 9/11 attacks. During the 9/11 attacks he photographed one of the most iconic photos of the attacks. This photo was of a man who worked in the building falling out of a window rather than burning to death tragically. This photo encompassed the attacks so well because of the way that it was able to portray the man himself. Drew took many photographs of this specific man falling but the one that stuck with people was the one of the man faced down. This photograph was so powerful because it sh

Photography Unit: Selfie vs Self Portrait

Image
Photography Unit: Selfie vs Self Portrait In this photography unit the students set out to take one self portrait and eight selfies. We also had to research a style of self portraits in order to find out which we liked the best. I personally liked the style where the sides are cropped heavily and the photo is mostly abstract. I've also found that a lot of these self portraits had heavy shadows, which sadly I could not incorporate due to the iPhone 8 not taking good photos in the dark. I liked the idea of highlighting my self portrait by placing it in the middle and having the selfies on the side. I tried to have the selfies that interacted with other objects on the left while having more "standard" selfies on the right. I feel that my self portrayed conveyed a message of hope. I tried to display this message by looking up and away from the camera. I also tried to make my face very bland showing that it is neither happy or sad. I also chose not to put any of these pho

Photography Unit: Phone Camera

Image
Photography Unit: Phone Camera Due to coronavirus and the quarantine that has been placed on New Jersey the student have set out this time to take photos of common object found in their homes with t heir phone cameras. I chose to take pictures of an A1 steak sauce bottle on my desk as well as a cheese grater on top of my dresser. I used the focus feature of the new photo editing app, called Snapseed, on the first photo to really make thebottle pop. I also tried to use as many straight lines as possible throughout these photos as I felt that they looked better with them.

Photography Unit: 15 Minutes in two spots

Photography Unit: 15 Minutes in two spots In this photography unit the student set out to both photograph and edit shots over one day. Throughout this period the students got to go outside and stand in one stop for 15 minutes and take as many photos as possible. Then the students went to another locations and again take pictures for 15 minutes. I tried in two different spots to get obscure pictures with odd angles.

Photography Food: Filet Mignon

Image
Photography Food: Filet Mignon In this photography unit the student set out to make a food that they felt comfortable making while also photographing it. The students were told to use lighting and shadows to enhance the color of the food and bring out it's other elements. I tried to make the steak look even more juicy by adding some extra red coloring to the steak. I also tried to get some photos with a lot of lighting so the steak had some shine.
